I had this trumpet (new) since the 10th grade but no longer can play it. I was put on a vent 2 times and can no longer control the flow of air from my lungs when I try to play. The serial number is 101000. Some of the silver finish is off in places where the hands touched. Does anyone have any idea what the trumpet might be worth?

I believe that, based on the serial number, your horn was made in 1950 or so, not 1964. It is a post-war Besson that was most likely made by Couesnon after that factory took over the manufacturing of Besson instruments.

I looked at a NOS Besson Brevéte with a serial number in that vicinity, and the owner was asking $1250. It had a lacquer finish, unlike the silver plating on your horn, but was in pristine condition. I offered him less than his asking price, and he did not accept my offer. That is the extent of my knowledge of how much your horn is worth.

The condition can also depend of a few things as well, maybe the horn has red rot in the leadpipe/main slide or there can be cracks and leaking might occur, these all could affect the value as well. Or the valves could be worn requiring a valve job.

With the conditioon you described so far, I've seen similar (100xxx and up) post war Brevetes valued between $800-$1200.
