I bought a Lyle trumpet on shopgoodwill for $12.99. Total cost was about $31.00 dollars. Second Lyle trumpet I owed, regreted selling first trumpet.
Do know it was probably made in the 1960s. Does anyone know more about this trumpet maker?

Unpacked the trumpet today. Give a good bath and through cleaning. The main tuning slide is stuck. Surprisingly good shape and plays well. Like that all Valves are valve block is numbered. Giving another bath hoping main slide gets unstuck.

There’s one on Reverb right now for $299. Looks to be a solid horn. May a Getzen stencil

Just curious - if you bought it for $12.99, why was the 'total cost' $31.00??

Shipping and handling was more expensive than the trumpet.

Price of trumpet was $12.99 adding in the shipping and handling made it $31.00 dollars. Not the first time I bought something and the shipping cost was more than item. Shopgoodwill doesn't have free shipping.

After doing another search on the internet, found information on Lyle trumpet
Found L. D. Heater music company of Portland Oregon imported musical instruments including guitars and brass instruments. Their guitars were made in Japan.

I realize it's an old thread, but I'm curious about your long term opinion of it?

Thank you.

L.D. Heater Music Co. opened in 1918 as a musical instruments store in Portland, OR. The company grew and became an importer and wholesaler of brass instruments, guitars, violins, drums, etc. from Japan and Europe.

Paul Tutmarc invented the first amplified electric bass in 1936, named Audiovox, which was sold by L.D. Heater Music.
When Mitsuo Yanagisawa wanted to export his drums, Lyle Heater obtained exclusive Pacific Northwest regional distribution and offered them under the name Pearl, before expanding to nationwide distribution.

Lyle instruments were named after Lyle DeLoss Heater, the son who took over the family business.

Lyle De Luxe trumpet.

The trumpets were made in Japan.

Accessories were available as well.

The company was sold in 1984 and closed two years later.

The Lyle De Luxe trumpet and the tie pictured are items which I recently acquired.

Lyle trumpet was a good student trumpet, nothing special. Doesn't compare to Getzen canadian brass trumpet or Getzen Renaissance trumpet. Sold all my trumpets and cornets a few years old.
Sorry for the late reply, just got back to playing. Decided to focus on cornets. Have a King 605 ,Yamaha 2330 shepherds crook and Conn Director cornets.
