Going over my mouthpiece collection and remembered I have this one. Likely from 1979 or earlier from my college instructor. If I'm not mistaken, I used it during my senior recital (Mudge concerto?) on a borrowed Schilke D trumpet, and have not used it since. Anyone know what the "C – B" signifies? Some sort of custom marking requested by the customer? In the Schilke catalog I see 15B and 15C4, not 15 C-B.

Hello,
My thought is, that since it is a screw rim. that the rims were different thicknesses giving you a B and a C cup. Just a thought... _________________ Christian K. Peters

Thanks. I have always had just 1 screw rim (#14 Schilke). The same one I used in my recital 41 years ago. The rim screws on seamlessly as it does today on my usual Schilke 20 bowl. _________________ Phil M.

15 diameter, C cup, B backbore. There would usually be a number between the C and B, denoting the rim, but since it's a screw-rim there's no point. _________________ J. Notso Nieuwguyski |

Thanks. That does make sense based on the Schilke labeling scheme. The only thing is that the cup seems more shallow than my standard Schilke 14. 🤔 _________________ Phil M.

The Schilke 15 is a liitle shallower than the 14 (see Kanstul comparator). |
