Hello, I am wondering if the Holton ST307 is a good horn to play on. Also I found one on eBay but the serial number doesn’t match with the years that they were made. |

Yes, HoltonMF horns are great horns to play!
Online serial number lists can be imprecise, I wouldn't worry if the numbers don't quite match. |

The 307 is one of the most interesting and versatile of the Maynard models. It's construction departs radically from some of the core concepts of a Maynard-linked instrument. Some like it, some don't. Personally, I say "try it, you might like it" - and if not, resale is quite good. Don't sweat the serial number. These crossed the 1980 boundary after which Holton serials cannot be reconciled to dates anymore. _________________ Ron Berndt
