KNOW (see) what the next note is BEFORE you have to play it.
PLAY the next note 'on time' and 'in rhythm'.
Oh ya, watch the conductor - they set what is 'on time'. |

But then you also say that some students do not have the ability to understand. If that is true, how can you say that you have explained it? You may clearly understand what you're explaining to a student and all of your words make perfect sense to you, but if the student doesn't understand your words, what have you explained? If you are a teacher, isn't it your job to find the words and an approach that the student will understand? |

This is a situation where talking about this on a forum isn't yielding anything positive. It's turning all twittery up in here. Y'all aren't arguing about anything in particular, just some philosophical differences that would evaporate in the presence of a good-natured masterclass, lesson, hang, or rehearsal in real life. |
