I know there are lots of negative thoughts about Arturo and his playing in the trumpet-universe, but there's no denying that he's a master at his instrument.
But what impresses me more, is his attitude and outlook on playing. He's obviously very passionate about his instrument. He seems to eat, sh!t, and sleep trumpet and music.
I try to share that same attitude, and I think studying with Art would encourage that.
Does anyone know if he still teaches at Univ. of Miami still? |

I think he is artist in residence at Florida International University in Miami, but I'm not 100% certain on that. _________________ J. Fowler

Email someone in the music dept. at FIU and ask them to hook you up with a trumpet student's email. You'll be amazed at some of the Arturo stories you'll hear from other students..they're legendary. From what I've heard, if you study with him (and yes I would if I had the chance) it will be YOUR outlook and philosophy that would really count! |
