I read much about Bach, Schilke, Yamaha, Conn, and Benge. Can anybody out there who plays a Blackburn tell me what you think of them? |

I play a Blackburn piccolo trumpet, and it's the best piccolo I've played. Great intonation, response, and the sound is wonderful. I've played their larger horns, most of which I have liked. A couple of them have been a little too open, but I think that's taylored to the owner of the horn. I love the way mine blows.
Try one if you can...in my opinion, they are by far one of the best trumpets on the market.

I play a Blackburn C. I think it is the best C I've ever played... and I'm not trying to be partial just because its mine. I had the pleasure of playing on a Blackburn Bb a few years ago and I REALLY liked that one too (it belonged to a teacher of mine). Those horns are indeed quite customized to the player, and it is really best to go to their shop if you're serious about buying one of their horns to make sure you get what you really want.

Can I class myself as a Blackburn in waiting?
I played their piccolos at ITG 2003, I have been trying to build up the finances ever since!
I have even stopped checking Ebay every few hours!!
Awesome instruments.
As for their soprano cornet - the best ever made, no contest! |

Play a Eb/E also have a Bach 239 bell for it .
Bach bell is early Blackburn conversion and is not anywhere
near is good as the ambronze bells.
FOr Eb/E it's perfection in quintet, solo or chamber repertoire.
A great master trumpet maker. |
