|
|
Hi,
I have recently bought a "new" 37 , it is a 32xxx so a very very early Elkhart Bach (1965) .
I have many of mouthpiece too and one is a artisan 1C.
When I plug the artisan inside the early elkhart, I touch the metal.
So the gap is zero....
The receiver should be different at this periode.
When the receiver changed ?
Have you information about this change?
Strange that a bach mouthpiece does not fit a Bach trumpet...

After 50 or so years, I'd guess that the receiver is worn. It can be replaced and set up to factory spec by a competent repair tech.
Alternatively, you could have your piece cut for reeves sleeves and use a larger ID sleeve to restore the "gap." ( #5 sleeve is standard Bach size, #4 or lower would give you the desired gap.) |

Perhaps.
But the receiver don't seem to be worn.
It is always well round .
You think about this kind of adapter ?: http://www.bobreeves.com/products/gap.htm

Hello Oliver,
The sleeves will work, but your mp will need to be cut to use them. I think you know that. You will need a 2,3 or 4 sleeve to get you away from the venturi. I had an older Schilke that had a worn receiver. I was playing Warburton at the time and ordered a couple oversize shanks. I was shooting in the dark with size though and I finally just had the receiver replaced. The sleeves might be a tad cheaper after the alteration, but it means sending your favorite mp away to get cut for sleeves. Some people think that the sleeves lessen the resonance of the nodal pattern. You really have to be in tune with your equipment to notice the subtle differences. _________________ Christian K. Peters

I've found that the Bach Artisan mouthpieces sit deeper into the mouthpiece receiver (on at least some horns) than other mouthpieces. If you put some tape around the shank of the mouthpiece -- just one or two layers -- it will sit where it is supposed to. Good luck! |

Hello,
Some feedback.
I have replace the old receiver that was worn (very worn according the repair man ).
So, now artisan fit perfectly and I have switch to a modified 1-1/2B (with symphonic queue) to a the artisan 1C .
This 37ml is now my main instrument for most one year. A very good one _________________ Bb: Taylor London
