Hello everyone,

I am going to get Hetman's products for my horns, but I am not sure if I should use the slide oil or slide grease. Does anyone know which one works better?

Just get the #4 and put it on all the slides. It’s great

This is a good guide.

http://www.hetman.com/products.html

I have, and use, all of the #1 - #8 products across eight different horns. #7 is perfect for a main tuning slide that's just a little too loose, otherwise use #8. #4 is great for a third valve slide that doesn't move quite as easily as you like. So the answer depends on the particular horn.

If it's a slide you want to move quickly, use oil. If it's a slide you want to stay where you put it, use grease. Which oil and which grease depends on the horn.

Or put another way, if it's got a ring or a trigger, use oil, else use grease.

I use Hetman 4 on 1st and 3rd valve slides, every horn I own.

I use Hetman 7 on tuning slides, tunable leadpipes, removable bells, 2nd valve slides, 1st and 4th valve slides on the picc.

IMO, the Hetman slide grease is almost too thick - I still use Schilke for my tuning slides.

For 1st and 3rd slides, I use a Hetman slide oil - not sure which number, but it's fairly thin. You need to reapply a bit more frequently, but it keeps them moving and keeps them smooth.
