I saw that Phil Cobb left the LSO for the BBC Symphony. I've heard that London orchestras work hard and pay a relatively small salary, compared to US orchestras. So, I'm wondering what is the benefit for him to go to a lower ranked orchestra? |

According to a post on Slipped Disc, BBC players are given a monthly salary but LSO members are self-employed.

Could simply be a matter of job security. _________________ -Tom Hall-

LSO has a very busy schedule...loads of days on tour....in the studio.
BBC is less work, which makes for more of a chance to do more things outside the orchestra. I believe pension from BBC is better than LSO. |
