Had my early issue Bach Strad Model 37 worked on and re-plated in silver. Work is beautiful except in one area. Both Z braces off main lead pipe (at front by bell and at end nearest mouthpiece are showing strange white substance on surface. Will not resolve with rubbing. . Refinisher indicates this is common problem with Bach Z braces that have nickel in them, and when pitted, moisture in metal comes out and causes issue. Never had this issue when horn plated in brass vice new silver. Any insight from others? Thanks in advance

It may be that the plater had the wire wrapped around those points to dip it in the plating solution. I've seen those bare spots frequently on plated horns.
And Bach "Z" braces are brass.

Sounds like you are getting the run around from the ‘refinisher’...
