Hello, I'm new to the forum but have read through a number of posts that provided a lot of great information thus far in identifying my 1923 Conn Victor 80A (serial number checked against the the Conn Loyalist index). It was my father's and it's in very good shape and plays surprisingly beautifully, but is missing a few pieces that I would love to find to make it as original as possible.
As you can imagine, I have already run through many options such as the marketplace here on the trumpet herald, various specialists like the Mark Metzler at Metzler Brass, eBay, and a variety of other specialist websites.
While the case itself is in good shape, there are empty spaces that are clearly missing original pieces. Specifically the round valve grease tin and the valve screwdriver are both missing.
In addition, while the linkage for the Bb/A mechanism are in tact (serial numbers match) the original linkage screws are missing, as is the Lyre screw. I am in the process of contacting local instrument repair shops to see if there are new screws that might fit, as suggested by Mark Metzler, but again, in a perfect world it would be nice to have original screws.
In any event, I realize this is likely a futile exercise, but thought I would tap this group to see if there are any other ideas or places to point me to in this process.
Thanks in advance! |
