I need help identifying the TECH who did the PVA on a horn i recently purchased. the Caps, buttons and stems are marked with straight scribed lines. This was not done by Reeves. When I received the horn the parts were mixed up. Putting them back in the correct position helped tremendously , but it is clear that the pads have been replaced also. Any help would be appreciated.

Impossible to say. Many people scribe lines to easily identify parts.

Are you concerned with the current alignment of the valves?
Are there obvious 'problem notes'?

My (amateur) test for 'working alignment' is to check the 'sound quality' for all the various valve positions. Ideally each position should sound good and respond similarly.

Rough adjustment for testing can be -
1) very slight downward push on the valve button
2) very slight unscrew of the valve cap

I place much more emphasis on the 'sound quality' of the alignment than on the appearance (or measurement) of the valve ports and the casing.

Most Important Note ? - the next one !
KNOW (see) what the next note is BEFORE you have to play it.
PLAY the next note 'on time' and 'in rhythm'.
Oh ya, watch the conductor - they set what is 'on time'.

Pictures of the scribe lines (and their locations) and the pads themselves might give some clues. Without that (and possibly with), it could be anyone…

I've had four horns aligned by Reeves. On some of them they stamped numbers, some of them they scribed lines on the top caps and buttons. I think you can contact Reeves, give them the serial number of the horn, and they will tell you whether or not they did the alignment.
