I’ve seen used Challenger 2 trumpets go for ridiculously low prices. I’d agree it’s best to go for version 2. _________________ Eclipse Celeste MY 2023

I thought the same once. In fact I said so on this forum somewhere. However, having previously owned 3 Challenger I trumpets and selling them all, I now am the proud owner of my 4th. After chatting with a friend of mine who is in fact a B&S artist, it occurred to me that I was asking the wrong thing from my previous instruments. I use my new Challenger I for quintet, other small groups, smaller orchestral literature (perhaps not Mahler - though of course you could) and I have to say that it is simply outstanding. The sound is stunning. Is it a Bach clone? I neither know nor care. It is what it is and I love it. If anyone ever finds the post where I suggest skipping the I and going straight to the II, please disregard it. I now believe that looking at the I is well worth your time. _________________ There are no chords that can't be improved by adding a double high C!
