Have any of you ever replaced a standard leadpipe on a Strad with a Reversed leadpipe? I realize I will need a new tuning slide as well.
If so, what was the result?

Yes.
The removing of one of the tuning slide braces and being forced to move the front Z brace back towards the valve casing can give the player more feedback at the cost of projection. It will also open up the slots a bit, potentially feeling less secure depending on what you prefer. _________________ www.divitt-trumpets.com

A lot of people also perceive this as a reduction in "resistance" - that concept being an illusion to begin with - and feel the horn "plays more open". (Really, you just hear yourself a little easier, and the notes may start just the slightest bit easier).
Some like moving a 180 in these directions (like me), others hate it. Like the prospectus says: "Individual results may vary". _________________ Ron Berndt

In my opinion, the Yamaha Xeno reverse pipe is the best of both worlds; increasing the distance to the gap, while maintaining the standard brace placement.

thing about the revers lead pipe horns from bach is that they are light weight bodies and standard weight bells. If you take a standard weight body and just put a reverse leadpipe on it you wont get the same effect you get with the lr bach horns. _________________ Current horns
