Can anyone please steer me straight about the orientation of the main tuning slide on a Getzen 300 cornet. Here goes does the longer end of the tuning slide run parallel to the finger buttons (north) or does it run paralell to the bottom valve caps (south) I researched the internet with no luck perhaps some of you Getzen owners might know the answer to my question thanks!

Your question is true either way but the long tube typically goes on the bottom.

Does the slide insert fully both ways?

I ask because there are people that are sensitive to having gaps between the end of the tuning slide and the end of the inner tubing in the slides receiver. There was a company, Nivibri, that made inserts to lessen or eliminate the gap.

If your Getzen’s slide has uneven slide legs, but can be fully inserted either way, then it will have those gaps.

Slightly off topic, but I am curious.

The slide can be inserted all the way in both positions

The longer leg usually goes in the bottom as others have said.

I have an older Yamaha student cornet that's the same way.
