Looks intriguing but I'm a bit too far away. _________________ LA Benge 3X Bb Trumpet

Wish I lived closer. Obviously the property of someone who liked jazz, horses, Western history and quality collectibles. _________________ Jim Hatfield

OK, someone please help me understand. Based on the three photos of the trumpets I would not travel anywhere. There is no way to judge the quality or even make of the horns. The rest of the stuff is definitely not for me but tastes vary, that is fine. Do you really expect people show up just to check out three unidentified horns? Serious question. _________________ 2019 Martin Schmidt eXcellence

No, unless I lived close enough to drop in on my lunch hour. Extra points if it’s close to a good taco truck. _________________ Jim Hatfield

OK, I do get that. You’ll have a break, take a walk and in the worst case you get some nice food on the way. In the best case you’ll get a Martin Committee for 30 bucks (or so we all like to think ). _________________ 2019 Martin Schmidt eXcellence

I don't expect anyone to travel for these, but surely we have some members in the local area. At least it's a Bach Bb and a tuning-bell C in a Bach quad case; along with what at first glance appears to be an earlier Yamaha D or Eb. If I lived nearby, I'd definitely check it out (and frankly maybe not post it to have first bids.) We had a member who recently got a nice Chicago Benge at one of the sales I listed on here. I was able to purchase an early Elkhart Bach 229 from a sale listed by phone that looked like it had hardly been played.
If the members feel this is a nuisance, I'll stop with the postings. Just trying to be a mensch...

a little bit of scrutiny of the photos shows you that the horn on the left (bottom pic) is a Bach Strad. (Zoomed up you can make out the shape of the engraving on the bell - I'm 90% sure it's a Strad) You can tell by the hex receiver on the leadpipe and the angle of the braces - Bach's braces are a bit straighter and less of an angle.
The horn in the middle appears to be a Yamaha based on the shape of the receiver and angle of the bracing. That was the standard Yamaha trumpet receiver in the 1980s/early 90s. I'm guessing early 80s based on the color of the felt in the vale caps - I had a 1982ish Yamaha 739T that had that same color - in the early 80s Yamaha used a yellow/orange felt on some of their horns for the felt in the valve caps. I think it's all black these days.
The last horn appears to be another Bach - that's based on nothing more than the hex receiver - the finger ring doesn't really look like a Bach though, but I don't know any other company that used a hex receiver.
All of them are sitting in what you can clearly tell is a Bach quad case, probably a 1960s/70s era based on the blue interior and case color.

Hey, benlewis, you got my vote to continue. I would drive an hour or so to give it a bid!! But not the 9 or 10 that area would require. Nice to know what is out there.
Those who disapprove might just pass over the post. This is the season of Passover, I believe....
Sorry, that last might trigger a few. _________________ huntman10

It also appears to be a Vacchiano aluminum mute in the case. I always liked those. _________________ Patrick Gleason

Patrick, I think you are spot on concerning the Bb and the Eb. However, after some close inspection of the C, I'm wondering if maybe it might be a tuning bell conversion done by Eric Peterson, who was active in the upper Mid-West and made some high horns for the Chicago Chamber Brass guys. Unfortunately, the photo isn't clear enough, but it's feasible that that is a Getzen Capri valve section, which seems to have been his preferred chassis for conversions...
Hopefully one of our members can snag a closer look and clue us in.
BTW, I only list sales on here that I think are really of note. I'm always on the lookout, even though I certainly don't need any more horns!!!

Need? Irrelevant, unless your significant budgetary other is listening! Blink twice if they are reading this! _________________ huntman10

I will bet $1.50 that they show up next week on eBay as "Trumpet/Cornet Super Rare Custom set, Perfect for Jazz" with a Buy It Now of $11,256.99 or best offer, plus $275 shipping. _________________ huntman10

And that's why it's sometimes worth checking these out, if it's local. I never have been in the know, but deals can be had.
