I will be in Tampa in February. Can anyone recommend some good bands to hear and some great little joints to frequent? Salsa, jazz, big band. It's the little intimate joints and venues that we love. Let me know - thanks everyone!
BTW We heard TH's own Tony Scodwell several months ago at an intimate little venue outside of Chicago. Big band. The music was great, and the stories from his career between songs made it a really memorable evening! _________________ Bach190ML43

I don't know many of the local bands offhand as I am elsewhere in the subtropics, but your safest bet is definitely Tampa's Ybor City. Block after block after block of intimate music venues, bars, and Cuban restaurants (along with a host of other cuisines, of course). All with a very distinct, early 20th century Beaux Arts / Art Deco / Art Nouveau feel. It's a fabulous area. Only trouble is it's nowhere near the beach! _________________ 1932 King Silvertone cornet
