Dave, any way you can be a bit more deliberate and organized with your posts? They seem to be thought dumps and cut-and-paste fests. Some organization and thoughtfulness would be helpful to the TH community. It just feels like a lot of spam.

Hear hear!
I honestly don´t doubt your good intentions but your way of launching them, pretty much like a Gatling gun makes me go hide instead of reading.
So please follow the sound advice of Gottfried!

How many hours per day do you practice and how long does it take you to play through theses 10 pages?

Organization and thoughtfulness are for the student, with the help of a mentor, to discover.

Dear dbacon!

As for myself - I haven´t questioned the advice you are sending to us. As for others - I think most of the folks here can agree.

Now everybody is different, in various stages, phases, just having bought their first horn, or are extremely experienced pros. And so forth.

What I and some other guys want to tell you is that your way of presenting these "tips" makes us overwhelmed!
We are ordinary human beings (well, trumpet players...)and with that comes a certain inborn limitation when it comes to our ability to digest information.
Too much info makes the system turn off, makes us downright dizzy/weary/fed up, puts us in a state of longing for Norwegian fjords, or what not - stressing the "not"

So if you want us to digest your ideas - please change tactics.
Not necessarily into spoon feeding - but you get the idea?

-Seymor - you mean you don't have an additional two hours of blowing after your regular practicing? Slacker.

+1. Frankly, I’m getting a little tired of wading through a pile of one-line re-tweet posts before getting to the actual discussions. Anything meaningful in them is lost on me, as the sheer volume of then is enough for me to skip them all.

Overwhelmed? No offense, but if you allow yourself to be led around by zero-effort cut-and-paste posts and links. then you ultimately have only yourself to blame.

When reading posts which promote an agenda, I always ask myself about the author's demonstrated playing skills, demonstrated teaching success, or basic ability to reason. When none of those boxes are checked, it is easy to ignore the author's posts entirely.

Go back and look at this author's posts from 15-20 years ago. You will see that nothing has changed - except the sheer volume of posts.

A great add to Schlossberg 5 is to play each measure full and free then note bend the half step between the notes.

I find that really useful as well. You can add to the fun by fingering the last note up a half step but playing the written pitch.

Example: G, then bend to the F#, then back to G, then finger G# but keep on playing G.

Yes please.

If you look at the Fundementals forum your posts take up almost the entirety of the first two pages! Just have a single thread and call it "dbacon's daily thoughts" or something. It's basically spam lol.
