Lanolin vs purpose-made lubes

I'm still on a 2oz pill bottle of the stuff I've had for 20-ish years. I think my brass guy is just recently on his second tub. And he's busy all the time.

It's modified lanolin, not anhydrous. It'll work but it doesn't last as long.

The stuff I mentioned is indeed pure anhydrous lanolin. It is a thick gel that looks basically like Vasoline. I'm told that there are other formulations with additives that turn it into a cream and that these should be avoided.

Claude told us to go the the pharmacy and get
Anhydrous Lanolin so of course we did

i still have a small tube from the early 80s that
i still use from time to time

my last jars came from a pharmacy in Medicine Hat
in Canada and my last batch came in a Ziploc baggie from ebay

it all gets transferred to smaller old Carmex jars
