I'm looking for an affordable medium bore horn. There is a Jupiter XO 16001 with .453 bore at the Woodwind/Brasswind for $1900.00. I've never played a Jupiter. Is it any good? My current horn is a Yamaha Xeno ML bore. How do they compare? _________________ Barry Wilson

Quite different. But you need to play it for yourself. We are all different players. _________________ Ron Berndt

Here is a long TH thread about the 1600i (it's "i", not "1"):
https://www.trumpetherald.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=96118&highlight=jupiter+1600i
People participating in the thread were comparing it to the Yamaha "Z" horn and the Schilke S42. At the bottom of page 2 of the thread, Roger Ingram (who had a big hand in its design) writes about the horn. There are a number of posts describing playing impressions.
As OldSchoolEuph implies, a Yamaha Xeno ML is hardly the first horn that comes to mind when considering equipment comparable to the 1600i. _________________ "He that plays the King shall be welcome . . . " (Hamlet Act II, Scene 2, Line 1416)

Just wanna chime in that I'm still playing the Ingram horn going on ~10 years now. Have played a few horns that were tempting, but nothing quite as responsive, efficient, warm, and still cuts like the 1600i. _________________ New Album "ensemble | in situ" on Bandcamp

Yeah, but the last post on that thread was made only 4 years ago. Still provides lots of good info on the 1600i. _________________ "He that plays the King shall be welcome . . . " (Hamlet Act II, Scene 2, Line 1416)
