I fell in love pretty quickly with the 19072V. I've always struggled between my love of a great 37 vs. a step bore horn, and I really feel like this is the best of both worlds. The evenness and ease of play is pretty incredible on these, but maintains that classic Bach sound. The other remarkable thing is how well the sound ties together and carries; really, this horn projects like crazy and doesn't break up. I definitely recommend trying these out when you get a chance, the ones I've tried have been very, very impressive! _________________ Jesse McBee

I would love to try out the 19072v as well as the 190l65gv, but hopefully my 19072g will ship out early next week. Went to the only music shop around here Music & Arts and they refuse to get anything in other than a 18037 ot an ytr-8335. Won't even get a 8335 la or any other Bach in. _________________ Current horns

Had a chance to play a new Apollo all weekend on 3 very different shows.
It’s a tremendous horn. I don’t think the 6R is all that tight. Feels like a great compliment to the bell. The horn is very smooth. Definitely a bit lighter than a 180 or 190 series.
Gold brass bells are not really normally my thing. I prefer the clean, snappy articulation from yellow brass and also prefer the projection from yellow brass. The Apollo still has that clean, crisp articulation, with the flare being yellow.
I used 3 versions of my mouthpiece on it. One was a commercial piece. And it can cut up too very easily. One was a mouthpiece similar to a 1 1/2C and maintained a tight fluid core. And, one was more of a symphonic 1.5/5B 24 mouthpiece, and the horn can really pour out sound that way.
Fit and finish were excellent. Slides and valves were excellent.
Super impressive horn!

Has anyone here tried the new Bach 65 and compared it with the old vindabona horns? I’m curious.
Not yet. It's on my list of horns to try and compare to my new Bach. I might get a vindabona slide for mine. _________________ Current horns

Yes they did. They had the 65 Vindabona, the 72 Vindabona and the 37 M+.
Having had an Elkhart 65 Vindabona with a gold brass bell probably built in the 90's, it was interesting to compare it with the new 65V. My 65 Vindabona had a huge warm beautiful sound that could cover a room but it really didn't project well and as I remember the core was quite diffused. Other than a brass quintet or small group jazz gig, this horn didn't work well for me and I sold it. The new 65V has that same great beautiful sound that I remember but with more core. It clearly has the original Vindabona DNA but would work in a variety of situations.
The new 72V also played well, but for me the standout was the new 37 medium bore plus. The horn almost seemed to speak before any air had entered the lead pipe. I have never played a horn with that kind of response. If I didn't think it would have resulted in the need for a divorce attorney, I probably would have bought it.
I very much want to try & compare the M+ bore 37 and the new lightweight 72 and am hoping a few will trickle in to shops in or near NYC. They're now listed on Dillon's website (tho out of stock) and you can give your email for a notification when they're in stock.

Thanks! The 65V and 37M+ are what I’m interested in. I appreciate your thoughts.
Was there any discussion of when these might actually be available, or about any coming C trumpets?

Tine Thing Helseth was at the factory today working on the C trumpets. She's not the only one with a hand in advising the development of those instruments. _________________ Bach trumpet artist-clinician

Was anyone at ITG able to compare the updated Bach 19037 to the Medium+ Bore 190M37X? I’m split between these horns and am looking at getting one in the near future. Im definitely interested in testing out the response and efficiency of the medium bore but I wonder how different it sounds to a normal 37.

The 190m37x is a lighterweight horn than the standard 19037. You also get brass outer slides on the 190m37x where you get nickle silver outer slides on the 19037. _________________ Current horns

I'm buying a Strad with SN 530040, which according to Bach Loyalist is around 2002. 2002 starts with SN 525000. However, the person I'm getting horn from has the receipt of purchase from 1999.

Could there be an error on the site?
Thank you!
Share the receipt with me, and I'll update the Serial Number listing. We're always adjusting the dates when we have a receipt. Send me a PM here on TH. _________________ ------
