Ben
This is it: 1946 Martin Committee in pristine original condition, with origial case, and Martin No. 8 mouthpiece. No patches, no dents, no scratches, almost flawless lacquer, valves look new with excellent compression.

And I though the 1948 Chicago Benge I got at a local estate sales last year was the find of my life. It was in similar mechanical condition except for some lacquer wear.

Yay!!!

And here's another! I was trying to think if I knew anyone to go for me, but I decided to share:

Looks like a lovely Committee!

Cheers!

I believe that one was not legitimate. The same listing was changed to a violin

$999 for a Beuscher 400 in Toledo OH. Not a steal, but it does appear to be close to mint:

Wow. I missed that one. I live just west of Chicago. I found my Chicago Benge at a local estate sale last year and my Martin at one a few months ago.

Anyone know if these horns are any good? Thinking of checking this one out. Blessings don't seem to have the same pedigree as the vintage Olds based on what I can find online. $100 is pretty cheap, but I've already got a solid Super and wouldn't want to put money towards a similar but worse horn.

There is an Estate Sale in Elk Grove IL (west of Chicago) listed on Estatesales.net that has a trumpet listed. Only one fuzzy photo with no description. The case is fabric with a zipper and a flap, just like the cases Kanstul used to use. First day of the sale is Nov 9th, 2023.

Skip this one. Chinese knock off. Someone bought it anyway.

$600 Olds Recording in southern NH. Could be a good deal if the valves are in good shape.

Sam Ash, Indianapolis has a Besson Classic trumpet listed for $799. I'm sure it's a Kanstul French Besson Classic trumpet. "French Besson Classic" on the bell. Najoom leadpipe, two tuning slides, single and double radius, amado waterkey on the 3rd valve slide, regular water key on the turning slide. All standard issue for a Kanstul French Besson Classic. It is designed as a Bach Strad clone. It sounds and plays like a Strad. A very good Strad IMO. (I have a pair of FB Classics in b-flat and C). It is currently listed on reverb, but if you want a Strad clone with Kanstul quality, for $800 and live near Indy, check it out.

For some weird reason, I have seen quite a few Kanstul FB Besson Internationals priced for much more than that. Kanstul's French Besson Classics are vastly superior to a Besson International (I had a couple of Internationals at one time). The FB Classics and Marvin Stamm models were the top-of-the line when Kanstul had the contract to recreate French Bessons.
