Well, my Capri Cornet arrived yesterday and it's showroom quality. There's nothing that cries "used" or "B Stock". Another good deal from Brett,

I think the Capri cornet is highly underrated. There's nothing about it that says "student model." I love mine--made around 1969--and I would imagine the new ones have been built faithful to the original design and are just as good.

In 2020 I purchased a Getzen 490S from a Canadian dealer. It was the start of Covid and the store was reducing inventory (for cash flow reasons, I suspect) The one I bought was a rental and in showroom condition. I got it for $1200 Canadian and at the time this particular trumpet was listed for sale at Long & McQuade for $1999, so I got a great deal. I believe it is classed as a student horn but, in my opinion, it is more in the intermediate area and stands up well against the many professional horns I own. It is a great horn with a great tone and valves to die for. Although I use it mostly for band use, I do use it now and then for solo work. I'm just pointing out that Gertzen makes great horns even in the student category so don't hesitate to buy one that may be on sale.
