We recorded this two years ago and released it in November of 2020. Here is what we wrote at the time -
A couple of months ago, Tim Saeger and I were looking for some multi-trumpet pieces to record and he thought he remembered Kyle Myers having written a piece for trumpet ensemble. Turns out Tim was correct! Kyle Myers had written DISCOVERY, a challenging work for seven trumpets, to be premiered at the @National Trumpet Competition by the Cal State Univ Long Beach Trumpet Ensemble this last year. Due to COVID and the competition getting cancelled, this was never performed… until now.
Kyle Myers is a Los Angeles based composer, arranger, saxophonist and educator. We are thrilled to be working with him again on this world premiere of DISCOVERY. A guiding principle with both Tim and me is that if we are going to do something, we want to do it to our highest capabilities. We think we hit the mark here with this amazing lineup of trumpet players. We are so incredibly thankful to everyone involved for enthusiastically joining us on this recording!
It is a huge undertaking on Tim Saeger’s part to not only edit the audio received from people recording in different environments and on different equipment, but also to arrange and edit a video. I hope you’ll agree with me when I say I believe Tim has outdone himself on this one! Thank you, Tim for all you do. We all appreciate you taking the time to work with us to ensure we look and sound our best!
