Any Holton experts out there?
I'm looking at a restored 1926 Holton for $400.00. The problem is that I think all Revelations around this time had a top-mount stop rod for tuning, and this one doesn't. Does that mean it's not a Revelation, and just a "regular" Holton Trumpet?
Is it worth $400 if it is a Revelation? Is it worth $400 if it isn't? Thanks.

Thanks. I did look at that PDF file very thoroughly. That's what led me to believe that all Revelations had that top-post adjustment. Was thinking someone here could confirm or deny that. That resource may not have every trumpet version and variation ever made. _________________ 23, 28, 45 King Liberty

That is a gen-2 Revelation. The block that the set screw and sleeve for the stop rod are part of is missing from the end of the upper tuning slide sleeve. If you look closely at the brace though, you can see the bead where the end of the stop rod passed through. _________________ Ron Berndt

Thanks OldSchoolEuph. That's what I needed to know. The hole for the screw is so obvious, now that you pointed it out. I asked for a photo from a different angle, and that whole mechanism is missing - even the bracket that gets soldered on to the main tuning slide. To me, this mechanism is what makes a Revelation a Revelation, so I'm going to pass on this. Without those parts, it's not worth $400.00 to me. _________________ 23, 28, 45 King Liberty
