Have you tried the Eterna - I didn't see you mentioning it before in this thread.
I've had my HNW King Super 20 since 60's and never had reason to look for something 'better'. _________________ Most Important Note ? - the next one !
KNOW (see) what the next note is BEFORE you have to play it.
PLAY the next note 'on time' and 'in rhythm'.
Oh ya, watch the conductor - they set what is 'on time'. |

Hello, Yes I have tried both and enjoyed both though I did feel the King had just a little bit more of an 'open blow'. I am leaning toward the King, The King is 1450 and the Getzen is 1250.... are these reasonable prices? I could not find anything lower anyhow. |

not too familiar with Getzen prices but $1450 seems a bit high for the King..unless its in great condition. I paid $750 in 2016 for mine and I made what I think was a good deal..I expected to pay between $800 and $1000 then.
But if you compare $1450 to the price a new horn in the same quality range its a good deal for a truly great horn...but I think the condition is the key on any used horn. For me, the important thing was no dents, structural damage, the silver plating and red rot. |

I'm thinking he is getting the horn from H.N white and from the description it's in pretty great condition. Bout 98% original new condition. It's a 1965 horn. Only thing I see wrong with it is some slight wear on the engraving and the case latches don't work. No dings or dents or scratches or wear on original silver lacquer. _________________ Current horns

I would like to know what more you could get for $1450 - I have to stay away from that site - what a candy store _________________ King Silver Flair 1055T - I'll never sell this horn
Reynolds Medalist - Fullerton Olds production and the best $125 I ever spent as a return player
1945 Olds Super - needs valve work and is not currently a functional horn |

+1 on the Silver Flair.
I started playing music (brass at least) on HN White instruments and have gone through all of their offerings/models (including later an old pristine restored Cleveland Superior to represent my long-gone very first horn). Albiet ammassing a sizable collection in order to obtain each HN White/King model and variation, the Silver Flair ranks at the top along with my King Symphony DB and King Liberty 2. I can't comment on the Gezten, but when comparing the Silver Flair to a Yamaha 739T (another Large-bore pro horn with 1st valve slide trigger, a copy of the Schilke B3 large bore) a friend used, the Silver Flair was still more responsive and didn't want to "suck out my lungs" when blowing into it like with the Yamaha lol. _________________ ('84) Bach Strad 72*/43 Trumpet

That would be a later model than the op is looking at and a 2055t model. Though they are good, they sound much different and were competitors to the bach 37 and geared more towards orchestra playing and a much heavier horn than the 1055t. The 1055t has a single brace and an adjustable 3rd slide ring. _________________ Current horns
