I have been playing the CKB 1 1/2 for a little while almost exclusively and really really like it. I have no idea what mouthpiece it compares to size wise but my other favorite is a 6C. The CKB has a lot more zip and flexibility that I wish the 6C had but love the 6C sound wise.
Question:
1. Can anyone provide specs on the CKB?
2. Can someone make this mouthpiece and keep the qualities I like (flexibility, zip, efficiency, range etc) with a little more sound?

Thanks!

As I recall, the CKB mouthpieces were standard equipment with the pro and intermediate trumpets manufactured by United Musical Instruments (later absorbed into Conn-Selmer Inc.) The initials stood for Conn King Benge and came in sizes 1 1/2C, 3C, 5C, and 7C. The unique outer styling was a blend of vintage Conn and King trumpet mouthpieces, and the cups and rims were from UMI's Benge line of mouthpieces (which were patterned after Bachs.)

I have several CKB cornet pieces in that size range. They do get to od tone and intonation, but the inner rim clogs my horn with blood and shaved off mustache hairs.

Only slight exaggeration here!

TYPO They get GOOD tone.... But I still find the bite quite sharp.

It's about a Bach 1 1/2 c but a bit heavier weight.

Strange. Doesn’t feel like a Bach 1.5C feels like a 7D with a little wider rim maybe

You could contact the maker - Kelly Mouthpieces. For a price, maybe they would make you another. (Yes - they make metal mpcs too.)

Seriously considering just having a copy of my CKB 1 1/2 made just 2-3% deeper. Is there anyone who could provide a similar weight blank?

My hammond symphonic blanks are very similar in weight. My 4mlh is maybe slightly deeper than my 1 1/2 c ckb. My 5mlh is a bit closer to a deeper 3c. You can also talk to Karl and he can make whatever you want.
