Dang, these are good.
Just for reference, I'm not a mouthpiece guy. I typically get frustrated when I try to go crazy with equipment so I keep it simple.
Denis Wick American Heritage 1.25C for C trumpet
Bach 1.5C for most Bb work.
1D for piccolo trumpet work.
But recently I bought a Bach 1.5C symphonic series with a 24 backbore and a 24 throat. According to the Bach catalog, the 24 backbore is typically found with A mouthpieces and the 24 throat is slightly larger than normal.
All I have to say is Wow. It plays super nice.
Plays like a typical 1.5C but the tone is very round and centered.
My biggest complement has to go to the articulations you get with this mouthpiece. Wow.
Every articulation is round, focused, and mature without much effort. Its like this piece found a way to put articulations under a microscope. You can match any symphonic style with ease and a very mature sound.
Of course, standard mouthpieces can achieve any articulation style you need, but this one just changed my approach to articulating like no other mouthpiece has thus far. Round, sweet symphonic band tone. Centered and focused articulations.
These are a home run. I recommend looking at the Bach catalog and seeing what kind of throat and backbore combos you want, for me, the 1.5C with the 24/24 was perfect. It might not overtake my DW 1.25C for symphonic work, but for wind band work on Bb?
I'm sold. _________________ Don Miles Cinci
