I'm doing the school edition of this show next month. Looking through both books (I'll need to combine when possible), on the tune "The ABC Cafe" there is a marking for flugelhorn that I've never seen before. Hopefully someone has and can enlighten me on what it means.

It's in both parts but in different measures. There are about 30 measures between those measures so I can't see how they might be related.

The marking for both says: Flugelhorn (slide in)

There is nothing afterwards such as Flugel (slide out) or Flugel (slide normal)

There are 10 songs between "ABC" and the previous need for flugel, so I can't see any kind of connection.

I thought that "slide in" could possibly mean to sneak in, as in start as soft as you can with a slight build, except it on the 2nd book the figure starts with 2 16th notes / fanfare kinda thing.

So yeah, this is a new one for me. I'll play my 300th musical next March so there's still stuff yet to learn.

Appreciate any help!

I played that schools version a few years ago. I had/have no idea either, I just played it like a normal flugel.
