This is the only I've product I've found that lubricates my 1st and 3rd slides the way I like them. I'm at the end of my supply, and can't find it anywhere except from Canada, Australia, etc., with exorbitant shipping charges. Does anyone know where I can find it in the U.S., or another product that is pretty much like this one? Thanks!

Yamaha only advertises one slide oil, but it sounds about like Hetman #4. I haven't tried it, but their valve oils are pretty much identical to Hetmans.

"Yamaha synthetic tuning slide oil is a proprietary blend that's ideal for any slides that need to move quickly and easily, such as the 1st and 3rd slides on a trumpet. An added corrosion inhibitor gives extra protection to the instrument's metal."

I was also told that Yamaha oils are close/identical to Hetmans at some point. So Shifty is probably providing the best "identical" replacement.

But, I do enjoy Monster Oils 100% Plant based oils and they have a slide oil that I use and enjoy.

Good luck!

I also use #4 for certain tasks.

Like other suggested, if/when the "Hetman well" runs dry, I'll be moving over to Yamaha.

Have you tried directly e-mailing some of the german brass shops (like say, Musikhaus Beck)? Hetman's is still produced afik and they may have some available even if it's not listed.

When you guys say "slide oil", do you mean trombone slide oil or trumpet tuning slide oil?

Have you tried horn rotor oil? I long since gave up on normal slide lubricants that are commonly used, or the old 'cut it with valve oil' trick... ast least for 1st/3rd adjustment slides. I use normal stuff on 2nd and the tuning slide, and haven't looked back.

very cheap to try it out, too.

Rotor oil isn't thick enough for 1st and 3rd slides.

Funny, everyone was searching for Hetman oil a year ago, and then it became available (although I don't know about #4; I use #1, #11, and #14).

In a pinch, I put Vaseline on my 1st and 3rd valve (what I learned over 60 years ago) and then cut it with Hetman #11. Works well.

Odd, since I've been using it for many years with no difficulties. To each their own.

Here's some #5 - https://www.ebay.com/itm/266299703524?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20180105095853%26meid%3D1a7c32ddc6c944068c24b6d5094841ea%26pid%3D100903%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D17%26sd%3D266299703524%26itm%3D266299703524%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2332490%26brand%3DHetman&_trksid=p2332490.c100903.m5276. Add 3 to 5 and you get 4. Seriously, I have done this before. As an added bonus you can add bit by bit and get it exactly how you want it. Hetman 4.2? No problem! 😆
