I have read some posts about my public school music director Joe Musumeci. A lot of time has passed, but I remember Mr. M taking his jazz band students to see the Stan Kenton Band at The Jazz Workshop in Boston and a also at Lennie's On The Turnpike. That's something that might not happen these day's. He built a pretty good music system in a small rural town that produced some excellent high school musicians. Two of whom have contributed to this forum. One of his jazz bands did make it to the finals at the Berklee Jazz Festival in the early 1970's. No small feat for a town with no history of music education. He hired good music teachers like Joe Buckley and John Allen. These guys made quite a difference for us at the time.

You've written a nice tribute, but it's a bit obscure. Is Mr. M still living? What is the school? The small rural town? What have you been reading about him?

Mr. M is retired from teaching, but still playing trumpet with local bands. The school system was Tewksbury, MA.
