How much should it cost to have a 3rd valve trigger installed on a Couesnon flugel?

Depends heavily on finding a compatible trigger and an agreeable and capable tech. I have picked up a cheap Chinese flug in the past, harvested the trigger for a Yamaha, and sold the Chinese flug on eBay for about what I had bought it for. Then my tech charged me about $125 to install it. And he is a long time friend I mentored 30 years ago! Other than just attaching the trigger, he aligned and lapped the slide to work smoothly.

I figure that is on the low end of the cost spectrum.

I may add one to my Olds L-12 flugelhorn, and recently got a quote. The tech was very helpful, when providing me an estimate.

- Trigger and installation.
- Add water key to third valve slide.
- Possible need to better align the 3rd valve slide legs.

Estimated cost, depending on how much work is needed to align the slide legs, was about $200 to $250.
