|
|
I have a Schilke P7 piccolo. It is a wonderful player but is only a 3 valve horn. I would like to get a trigger for it similar to the 3rd valve slide on the Yamaha YTR-9825. Schilke does not make one. Does anybody out here know where I might find somebody to build one? _________________ Bb -Bach/Blackburn 37G, Shires CLW

Might be worth getting some measurements for the Yamaha part? Probably not a straight swap, but just a thought. |

Bajoc Music seems to do lots of rotary valve custom designs.
Bet that’s an easy one for him. At the least, I bet he’d be able to fit a Yamaha 9825/9820 rotor to your Schilke. |

I owned a 3-valve Schilke P4 piccolo which had an additional Yamaha 3rd slide with rotor. It was modified to fit my horn, purchased it with the stock slide and the Yamaha slide so I don't know who did the work. _________________ Del Quadro "The Mother" |

A few months ago I tried a P7 which had a rotor on the 3rd valve slide. When I gave it a close look, the 3rd valve slide appeared to have been plugged onto the horn straight from something like an ACB (or similar) 3+1 piccolo trumpet. Those horns tend to come with both a rotor 3rd valve slide, and “normal” 3rd valve slide, so it might be worth trying if you can find “doubler” sort of 3+1 to act as a donor. _________________ Charles Russell Roberts

Check with Ken Larson...
Also, a previous owner of my P4 had a rotor slide made that's a P4; that is, a fourth rather than a second. So low f is 3+rotor. Works great!!!

Having different options for the rotor slide length is a great idea! _________________ Charles Russell Roberts
