Just read an article that said Brian has been diagnosed with dementia. |

A sad commentary of our times.
Saw him perform once, with the original Beach Boys.
After that, I got to meet him and his brother, at a different event: we were in a semi-private class with the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi ... studying Transcendental Meditation.
(I still practice it. Interestingly, I coincidentally met Maynard Ferguson, who was a practitioner of the discipline. We chatted about breathing, relative to horn playing). _________________ Sub-Optimal Hillbilly Jazz |

His "Good Vibrations" (which I still love) got me through Air Force Basic Training.
"God Only Knows" is an absolute masterpiece. _________________ "If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn." Bird

I read that Brian's wife had been making sure that Brian had been getting what he needed to live a reasonable life. However, his wife just died and now there is no one to take over. |

He has 2-or-3 daughters, I believe (?). Possibly, estranged. In-which-case, it might, indeed, be troubling. _________________ Sub-Optimal Hillbilly Jazz |

Very sad. She took good care of him. I used to watch The Kennedy Center Show for a few years. A guy I know was one of the music directors. They honored Brian one year. I remember when the camera panned to the box where the honorees sit. Brian had such a vacant look. My guess is he was heavily medicated due to his mental health issues. His wife Melinda was rubbing his back. It didn't seem like he knew what was going on.
I have an old friend from high school band who has severe mental health issues, he has that same vacant stare from the meds he's on. When he looks at you, it seems like he's looking through you. |

I have noticed this when trying to talk to elected "officials". _________________ Sub-Optimal Hillbilly Jazz |
