How is the resistance compared to the newest version of the Yamaha Silent Brass mute?

If I am correct (it's the one that sticks way far in the bell and has the finger grips on it?) it's WAY more open. I had one of those briefly and anytime I'd use it I'd mess my chops up from overblowing it.

I'll leave it to others to compare though

That’s the one. Thank you!

I'll second the experience with overblowing the Silent Brass. Haven't experienced anything like that with the CookieMute—even when I push a bit, it doesn't back up on me.

Hey everyone - thanks so much for your support so far.

I just wanted to chime in that I'll be at the North American Brass Band Championships (NABBA) next weekend (April 5-6th 2024) with mutes for sale!

I won't have a booth as performing there is still my main goal, but I have a local pickup option on my website specifically for the event with a way to contact me to arrange pickup. A great way to save on shipping!

If you're there, I'd love to see you, even if you don't buy a mute...

Cheers,
Cookie
