Good valve oil - long lasting and seems to make some valves just feel extra good. Bauerfeind valves for example seem to really like it, and it seems to work on most horns (I use the vintage on older horns, doesn't seem as thick but for medium worn valuves it works) _________________ More than one trumpet

Doc Severinsen preferred it and felt it was the best for his horns, but then again, he used to spit on his valves also.

I have hard horns that got sluggish on Hetman but La Tromba T2 always great.
Highly recommend. _________________ Heather Kirk

While I love the valve oil, I HATE the bottle. They leak like mad! But I'm a band director and there's always an empty bottle of generic around. I pop the top off and fill it with my La Tromba. Problem solved! _________________ Benson |

I believe there are three versions of La Tromba. I've only tried T2. It was excellent as far as I recall. It lubricated the valves very well, they never stuck and it had a pleasant smell. I've not tried T1 or T3. _________________ Please join me as well at:

I used T2 for many years before moving to Hetman 1 on all my horns EXCEPT my Kanstul 1525 flugelhorn. For that, I use T3.
Those bottles, though, are a nightmare. My T2 bottles from years ago are intact, but the T3 bottles, with what seems to be the same design, all crack at the ring, leaving you to stick the cap tip on and hope. I now travel with several Zip Lock bags... _________________ Matt Finley https://mattfinley.bandcamp.com/releases

T1 with Silicone worked well with "problem" valves that would occasionally stick. |

I loved it for years, but a few years ago something changed with the bottles, and since then they've all leaked. Eventually I got fed up with intermittently finding valve oil all over everything and switched to Monster Oil. So far, it seems good. |

I use it. And I have a lot of oil spots from the bottles leaking. I don't normally carry oil outside of the house to gigs. And I can't remember the last time on a gig that I needed oil. But, I do usually have an extra horn with me. _________________ Pat Shaner

A bottle of it came with my flugelhorn. The oil seems really long lasting, but the bottle leaks as others have noted. Have to keep in in a plastic bag. _________________ Bb: Schilke X3L AS, Yamaha YTR-6335S

I was given a bottle of La Tromba (nee T2) back when I was having trouble with my Benge's valves and before I had Kanstul rebuild them. The oil started out just fine, but soon became unusable. I finally figured out that that oil was leaving behind some sort of invisible buildup on the pistons and casings that made the action slower and slower, as time went by.
I cleaned the horn a number of times, but that didn't clean off the buildup. Finally, I soaked the pistons and swabbed the casings in vinegar. That stripped off the buildup. I never went back to La Tromba.
I tried a Wild Thing at Flip's shop that he had used T2 to lube the valves. I felt the piston action was noticeably slower with that oil than what I have always gotten from his own brand of non-synthetic proprietary oil. I've used Flip Oakes brand valve oil ever since the first day I met him, back in 2009 and still have never found a better valve oil. Yes, it evaporates fairly quickly in the Arizona summers, but the action is always fast and reliable. _________________ Brian A. Douglas

There is one reason that I practice: to be ready at the downbeat when the final trumpet sounds. |

After the death of the founder two different companies, one with the old bottle with the long head that sacks and one with the bottle with the short head that has the old good quality , for me best oil out there, i use T2 special for new hirns , T1 for used horns and T3 thick for vintage.

Been using T2 for about 40 years now. Works great, easily available.
I also like giakaras typo very much: hirn is brain in German - happy to hear that T2 works well with new brains, also _________________ 2019 Martin Schmidt eXcellence

I pull the spout out and put an older spout in, which has a much smaller hole. |

Switched from Hetman to La Tromba T2 and love it -- super fast, very silky-feeling if that makes sense, and lasts a hell of a long time. |

Tromba T2 is great on stainless pistons and my Schilkes.
I got frustrated with constant bottle leaks and switched to Hetman. _________________ Del Quadro "The Mother" |
