Does anyone have an estimate on how much replacing the lead pipe on a 15 year old silver Yamaha Xeno YTR-8335 should cost?

| I'm sure you can find the old model to match your Gen 1 8335. But, Mouthpiece Express sells the Gen II lead pipe (which is a huge improvement over the Gen 1 for $251.99 |

I would imagine it's going to depend on how many unsolders and solders they have to do. Will the leadpipe come as a single unit with mouthpiece receiver and finger hook attached or does that have to be transferred over from the old leadpipe along with any associated braces?
It's also possible to learn to do it yourself - there are videos on how to solder trumpets on YouTube - soldering a leadpipe is a basic soldering task. Make sure your surfaces are prepped well, be conscious of safety.

Most repair shops chatge by the hour.. parts plus time.
I just had a leadpipe swapped (I owned the new pipe), cost me just over $100 bucks.
Unless you've practiced instrument repair I would HIGHLY discourage any DIY approach.

Email and ask them what they charge. Should be pretty much a set price if it’s just swapping leadpipes on that horn.
There are several reputable techs discussed on this site. |

I encourage all trumpet players to buy a couple of $40 trumpets from shopgoodwill.com, a butane torch, some flux, and some solder and then take off and replace a leadpipe and receiver 3 or 4 times.
I'm to the point that I can do a reasonable job on a raw brass horn. I would never work on a silver plated one. It makes me truly appreciate my local brass tech. |

Hey nothing ventured, nothing botched.
I suppose if someone isn't naturally predisposed to DIY fixit projects and doesn't feel an inclination toward it, they're not the kind of person to do it.

You'll probably experience better intonation and response from the updated leadpipe. |

You will probably spend $30-40 per solder spot depending on the repair shop. I think a Yamaha replacement lead pipe will have a new finger hook included, so that's one less thing for the installer to solder.
