Hello,
Wondering if anyone has played the Heathers trumpet book around here. Heard it also doubles picc and flugel. How intense is the book (could I give it to a decent HS player) or is it really that necessary?

Haven't played it, but it looks like a pretty tough blow.

It's a really fun show to play. As I recall the picc is only for one tune. Not too tough. I took some of the high notes down and nobody cared. It's probably the most "rock" show I've played. Just one trumpet and one reed as I recall. _________________ "I'm an engineer, which means I think I know a whole bunch of stuff I really don't."

Just reviewed my notes:
- Show starts off with a bunch of D hits played with no warm up
- Some odd meters from the start
- Easy flugel stuff
- One tune ends on Eb
- Picc on one tune, solo behind singer but only goes up to D. Also picc on Exit music up to F, not super important, I took it down
- Some tricky counting. Recommend working with a soundtrack to find out where you fit in
In retrospect this could be a tricky show for a young player with limited experience.
Did the show with no conductor. Glad I set up with where I could see the keyboard player's hands to get my cues. Super gratifying show to have played. On closing night the opening tune got a really long and loud ovation from the crowd. _________________ "I'm an engineer, which means I think I know a whole bunch of stuff I really don't."
