Andrea Giuffredi Commercial model

(I searched on here for this topic and did not find anything)

So now there is a second Giuffredi model from Carol, the Commercial edition. Does anyone know how it plays differently from the first model? Things like response, ease of playing, resonance, etc?

Hi JetJaguar,

I just got mine about a week ago. Ping me in about a month.

I've owned and/or tried many CarolBrass instruments over the years, and the A/G Commercial is definitely very different. At the Distributor's house, I tried a few trumpets in a small dead sound room and then in a larger higher ceiling room. I didn't like the A/G Commercial in the dead room but really liked it in the more live room. The timbre is not a symphonic at all but has lots of spin in the sound. I've never tried the original A/G trumpet, so I can't offer a comparison. The Commercial is very responsive-and-even in and below the staff. Very open above the staff but tends sharp if you don't choose your mouthpiece correctly. I do think think they erred by not used a Gold Brass bell and slides. There's just not a lot of variation available in the timbre. Being reversed leadpipe, the intonation isn't as consistent as the CarolBrass instruments using a traditional leadpipe. CarolBrass hasn't had the same success as Schilke with the revered leadpipes. For certain instruments like cornet and C trumpet, CarolBrass aces the geometry, but they seem to have more trouble designing Bb trumpets.

Articulations are very direct/immediate. A local Trumpet/French Horn instructor, who plays in a good Mariachi group, really liked the trumpet.

I have not played the new AG Commercial model, but I do own the AG "All-Around" and want to chime in on something:

I would be shocked if the intonation isn't dead-on like all other CarolBrass horns. Anything is possible I guess, but my AG has the best intonation of any horn I have owned or played, and that's north of 75 horns.......Bach, Yamaha, Schilke, Eclipse, Olds, Benge, Getzen, Edwards, and many more.

A few of my students have CarolBrass trumpets and all of them are dead-on with pitch. Various Bbs, a C, a flugelhorn, etc.

No I haven't, Eric. I've been deliberating between the AG and the 9395L-RSM, which seems to be better for physically challenging playing, from all the questioning I've done. Trent and Donovan both have demos of it on the Tube. It will be difficult to try both out before purchasing.I need to get my HCI fixed up first and the decide what I want to do.

The intonation is of the A/G Commercial is still very good. My experience with the brand is their instruments with standard leadpipes have the best intonation.

If you follow AG's Facebook page, there is an artist playing the commercial model. He sounds great!
