Hi, I’m playing an Etude from a book called “Studio Studies” today in the trumpet studio. It’s atonal Etude day. I got this book years ago, freshman year was 1972-73. I used it with my trumpet prof as there are some interesting etudes in this book. It’s not really hard, but it will make you look and listen to what you are playing.

Here we go: I wanted to say something about Huffnagle to the studio and before I play the etude, but can’t find any info or history on him. All I do know is I played out of this book years ago at Holyoke Community College and Huffnagle seemed to be known in New England, HCC isn’t far from U Mass and this is when Walter Chestnut was at the university. I did find other books by Huffnagle, but nothing that stands out.

Thanks, Dave

The only things I found about him was the date of his death and he taught a summer program at the Amherst Music Camp in MA. Does anybody have more info on him. I do like nd occasionally play his etudes.

I looked through my four Huffnagle books. Unfortunately, none of them contain biographical information or even endorsements that might have offered some insights.
