Can anyone help to identify this short cornet clip. The recording is very old and you might need headphones: https://tile.loc.gov/storage-services/media/recordedsound/St-Louis-Tinfoil-Recording_Thomas-Edison.mp3

Thanks, Matt

Well it certainly sounds like something that today we would call a "working file" with a record retention window of not-much. I don't think those who made it intended it to survive whatever they were doing, and the damage is such that a lot of notes are missing. I hope someone will have a solid guess as to what the demonstration was - if it was not just randomly selected. But I don't think this was meant to last.

I am grateful archives like this exist, and terrified at how much will we lose or , worse, have manipulated, as things all go digital and AI...

But no... I have no idea the tune, player, or recording entity. I'm surprised the source were you acquired this doesn't have anything. If they don't I can't imagine who will
