I'm still awaiting similar comparisons. (on the Flugelhorn).

So far, I've had a comment (not exactly a compliment ) by no less than my jazz instructor, a very prominent performer in the NYC jazz scene.
He opined, "You've been listening to too much Harry James". (guilty)

Maynard's flugel sound on MF Horn 1 has always been one of my favorites. I think he plays it on 2 selections.
Freddie Hubbard's sound on Here's That Rainy Day is amazing. Beautiful, velvety tone.
Anything Clark Terry played as well.
