Does anyone know where I can find a copy of a score for Mahler's first symphony that includes the "Blumine" movement? Or perhaps where to find a score of the "Blumine" itself. A trumpet part would be great too, but I would like to check out the score. Thanks.

I did my Master's thesis on this piece (movement) and I can tell you that the score is not easily accessible. It could be different now, but I know two years ago, I had to find my copy on Ebay. It's possible that you could find a score at your local university music library.
Good luck! |

There is a score (of the Blumine movement only) published by Theodore Presser Co., 1967. The original symphony had 5 movements :
Part One: Aus den Tagen der Jungen
1. Fruhling und kein Ende
2. Blumine
3. mit vollen Segeln
Part Two : Comedia humana
4. Todtenmarsch in Callots Manier
5. D'all Inferno al' Paradiso
After some revisions, he was also persuaded to discard the Blumine mov't as well as the "program" of the symphony . In 1899, it was published in 4 mvt's w/o titles.
Lo and behold, the original manuscript surfaced in 1959 , and was "premiered" by the New Haven Symphony Orchestra ! It was kept by a student and friend of Mahler in the states. |

I have a copy of the part if you need it. E-mail me and I'll send it out. |
