I have frequently gone to the extensive trumpet photo archive on the Raw Brass Site...for fun, for reference. Just tried and found it closed and also found that the whole site is for sale...sad to see the site go...kpb |

Hopefully, someone will buy it and resurrect it. They had a lot of great links. Also, I hope the cases continue to be made. I always have wanted to get a rawbrass case. However, I just bought a Wiseman case so for the sake of marital bliss I won't be buying anymore cases for a while.

Weird. Why would you shut down the majority of the site *while* you are trying to sell it? That takes away some of your marketability.
Some of the marketing/promotional "spiel" is a bit over the top as well. 35,000 pageviews per month in reality is quite small (granted its a niche market, but I would imagine that TH gets that in 3-4 days, based on comparative traffic rankings at Alexa, in comparison with one of the sites I own).
I hope the owner isn't setting his/her sites overly high with respect to the price that site will garner. I have an idea of what my biggest site is worth, and it gets roughly 15-20 times the traffic that rawbrass gets. Even with an established community, a 6+ year history, and consistent monthly revenue, I doubt in today's climate I could reach 5 figures for the entire site including all data and administrative scripts/programs, let alone if I pulled content prior to sale. Web sites just don't sell for much any more. The "glamour" of the internet has faded, what with the dilution of the ability to find worthwhile content by faux search engines that serve no purpose but as affiliate links to Ebay or Amazon. Try doing a Google search and count how many of the top 50 results are *actual* useful content. There are more sites than ever on the web, but it is that much harder to find relevant information....
*sigh*
If someone builds a hobbyist niche-centric site (as raw brass is, as my site is), you'd better be doing it for the love of the hobby/topic, not in hopes of the pot 'o gold at the end of the rainbow.
That being said, I would much rather see the site continue than fold; more legitimate trumpet-related sites amongs the vast wasteland of the internet is better than fewer.
