I am a beginner, and I have been working out of Jerome Callet's Trumpet Secrets book. It's taken a few months to be able to reach a full, strong C scale (from low C to high C). I would like to know if that sounds like normal progress?
I hear spit-buzzing allows the player to reach very high notes, although my intent is not to play ridicously high notes, I do struggle a bit to play a strong high C, even though with time I'm sure it'll become easier. Does that mean I'm not spit-buzzing properly if I have to struggle a bit to get compression?
Best Regards,
James |

If you are struggling to hit a high C then surely you don't have SC together. But, that doesn't mean you aren't on your way. An experienced SCer would have to evaluate that in person or, perhaps, on the phone. The spit buzz surely will get you heading in the right direction. But as you no doubt realize, there is a lot more to SC than just a spit buzz. That's one piece of the puzzle. Be sure you are working on the the other pieces too. Best regards, Kyle |
