Hello!

I would appreciate some opinions (if any) on a
Bach Strad model 43H (ML), where the H stands
for heavyweight as far as I know. I already read
the former discussions on Bach bells in this
forum, so my main interest would rather be in
some statements on this particular (and, I guess,
somewhat rare) configuration and how it compares
to the standard 37, 43 and 72 models.

Thanks a lot,
Jochen.

I have never seen one of them, so I cannot speak from experience. It is one of the more uncommon models, since the 43 horns I see here in the States are the 43 regular weight and the 43 lightweight. On the surface it would seem like the heavy bell would be working against the narrow bell flare. However, another seemingly contradictory model is the lightweight 72 (the 72*) which sounds like it is just the opposite of a 43H. The 72* combines the broad sound of a 72 bell with the quick response of the lightweight (*) bell construction. It's one of those things where you might not understand why, but the combo works out great. I have one of those and really like it.

Most likely you will just have to rely on your own ears.

Mike

nothing added. i just can't spell.
