I don't know if that is entirely true. There are some fine bach Strads being made today but they are inconsistent - though over the past few years they have been trying to become more so. However, with the last round of labor troubles they may have a rough road ahead of them.
I personally have found the best Bach Strads to be late MT Vernons and Early Elkharts. In the early Elkharts I have found the serial numbers up until around 175,000 to be very fine Bachs for the most part. It seems that after that they became more inconsistent. That doesn't mean that there weren't any good ones you just needed to be very selective. That has been my experience and I hope it helps.
