Fun.
Not too difficult, but quite enjoyable.
You will leave the pit every night whistling the tunes - can be very annoying after a week or two! |

I did that one MANY moons ago back in High School. Trumpetmike is right, you'll be whistling those tunes for awhile! _________________ Playing For Him,

You'll totally enjoy it. I played it last year with a local high school. The parts are not difficult and it is one of the greatest musicals ever. You will quickly find out why. We played an arrangement for reduced orchestra with 2 horns, 2 trumpets and 1 trombone.
The high school kids were great and you could see what fun they had. |

Thanks for the responses.
I've been listening to the Showtunes channel on TV for two weeks and not one OKlahoma song yet. And no videos locally either.
I'll check my used CD place in west LA soon.
If I do it, I'm hoping for lots of playing and somewhat challenging. |

I'm not a big fan of it personally. The music is good, but their attempt at creating any sort of an Oklahoman accent is way off and tends to bug me quite a bit. Of course if you aren't sensitive to that sort of thing it can be a lot of fun. _________________ N.Y. Bach 31 bell S-bore (.440) 50XX, Bob Reeves 41sv-692s, Bach MV 1.5C/warburton 9 BB for legit.

Hugh Jackman (Wolverine) is in a great version of it, available on VHS and DVD. A London production took the show to a sound stage and did just an amazing show. It's even more impressive when you hear the actors loose their British accents and take on a very convincing Western accent. |

I directed that show last year. It was very long. Otherwise a fun show. |

Y'all may think it's fun, but that's because you didn't grow up in Oklahoma, hearing that music every single day of your life. I marched in the Rose Bowl parade in 1995, and the main theme was one of the three songs we played. I must have played it 25 times a day every day for two and a half months. If I ever have to play it again, I may just give up the trumpet. |
