Not bad BUT I'm never comfortable with someone who insists on payment immediately. As well, $25 is a fairly high shipping fee.
"Scratch done by myself" might try to hide some sins? Valves not out far enough to judge status. And 2 negs for not shipping?
Take baby steps and be careful if you proceed! _________________ Bill

I also don't like that he sctrached the thing to the point of not having Olds written on it, or, seemingly, the serial number. The more I think about it, the less I like it. _________________ "Discipline is remembering what you want." |

I disagree! I bought an Olds Ambassador in Raw Brass. The former owner had started a slight scratched finish (very popular now - like the Bergeron Model) I bought it, had the minor dents taken out and had a Pilczuk pipe put on it. I changed the bracing on the valves from the heavy brace at each end of the valve block to the more convention one brace on each side of the second valve casing. The horn plays equal to most proline horns and better then many of them. The final thing I am having done is a trigger for the 3'rd valve slide (like my Recording has).
Olds Recordings are fine horns to begin with. A few adjustments and you can have a proline horn for around $300.

Hey all,
That's my horn on eBay. Yeah I've had a few misshaps with shipping, all of them my fault. I try to be a good eBayer but ... anyway I tried very hard not to misrepresent my horn, this is not a brand-new horn. It was very used, but still very playable, it was scratch brushed (scotchbrite) to hide things/make it look better than before but I do mention it has "cosmetic issues and many small dings" in the ad. It does have a serial number which is 281745 I just didn't post that picture on ebay, so I'll post it here hope this works:
If you search the archives I joked about giving my serial number becasue of eBay scams kind of ironic that now I'm getting that feeling now. For the money it's worth these nice valves.
or the nice engraving (it's really hard to get engraving to show up with the flash)
Thanks for finding my auction controversy worthy!
Chris

Looks OK to me. It is described accurately, the valves look as though there is no wear through on the plating. As for the shipping, I regularly charge and pay $25.00 when the horn is shipped with a case. Sometimes I make a couple of bucks and sometimes I lose a couple. Depends on where it's going. As for immediate payment... what's the problem with that. It is one of the options with Paypal and Buy it Now. Why should he wait? So anyway, it is sold and I think it is a solid horn for $100. |
